It was a beautiful day for it, considering it's been bucketing it down this week. Hailstones arrived once I got home, so timed that well.
My knees are giving me grief tonight, think it really is time for new trainers (aka sneakers, runners etc). Though could be to do with the amount of mud I had to contend with. Amelia was impressed to see it all up my legs when I got home - made me look hardcore! Today's walk had me snapping pics quite a bit with all the things to see along the River Wey.
This photo isn't zoomed in, I really was this close. Frightening.
I haven't been blogging here much as I have been recording my walks on an app on my phone, mapmywalk. Have decided to ditch mapmywalk now, it sucks battery life and I can't take pictures on my walk while the app is recording.
Finally got to walk along Dapdune Wharf, which is closed over Winter. It's so nice down there, must make sure we take Amelia for the egg hunt there next Easter. She would have loved to see the ducklings on the river this morning.
Sun shone all weekend, having too much fun in the sun to squeeze in a walk so made sure I fit in a quick one tonight. Beautiful balmy night, perfect for discovering new parts of Guildford. We have lived here for nearly 2 years and every walk I am discovering new things, areas I never even knew existed.
One thing is for sure, Guildford sure knows how to do hills!! Google Maps does not do them justice - I better have buns of steel by the end of this training.
I tried to stick to the main paths tonight as like everywhere, nice nights bring out weirdos. So I walked to all the primary schools I know in the town centre.
Finally back to my old self and back into training. Because I have missed quite a bit I am trying to fit more cardio in during the week to get back on form. Yesterday was my longest walk so far, at nearly 7 miles.
The muscles behind my knees took a real beating, a nice walk around Alice Holt today sorted that out.
I love this country in March. It really does like to show off.
This walk would definitely take the cake for the stinkiest so I don't think I will do this one again. Cows and sheep really do stink. Amelia would have loved it though. The cows had long hair, which I'd never seen down South before.
Time for new trainers too.
£907.44 raised for Breast Cancer Care so far too, which is fantastic!
No training going on and hasn't been for a while. I was really hanging out for a big walk on the weekend. A friend convinced me to call the out of hours doctors due to my symptoms. I am glad I listened to her.
Out of hours doc recommended a chest xray as he thought I might have had a cracked rib from coughing so much. Doctors at hospital suspected a clot in the lung as I was in so much pain. They all agreed there was a chest infection.
Long story short, stay in hospital required, medicated up to the eyeballs. I am eating healthily - probably not enough as my appetite has disappeared and am having to force myself to eat. Scales aren't really moving as I am not doing exercise, so that's annoying.
Still trying to do strength training, as long as it does not impact my right lung capacity.
Had organised all these fundraising activities at work, so I hope they are still going on while I am not there.
As I said in my previous post, I have been ill. So I was busting a gut to get out and get back into training. With conjunctivitis in one eye and coughing up a lung, I wasn't hoping for much. 10 mins in the thought did cross my mind to go home, but I soldiered on.
It was a sunny winter's morning, 2 degrees so nice and crisp.
I was nearing home by the end and decided that the length of time seemed to be the same as my last walk, so for the fun of it (!) I kept going and threw some nasty hills in there for good measure. That's the great thing about Guildford, no shortage of hill training.
Bugs me when this happens! No way was I going to walk up there with no obvious footpaths. This is why I had to backtrack on myself twice on the map above.
The beautiful Pewley Downs. Amazes me that this is 5 mins out of the town centre of the biggest town in Surrey. It seems like proper countryside.
Little signs of Spring!
Our team has had a member pull out, but another member has replaced her. We have been busy thinking about fundraising ideas. As Easter is on the way a lot of it seems chocolate related which always helps people part with their cash!
