Walk Jog Run
In my last post I mentioned needing to get something to record my miles/k's. Ian has kindly recommended this fab site.
This was my route today.
This was my route today.
First Training Day
I walked 4 miles (6.5 kms) today - in this:
Oooh lovely, it says it is going to be sunny! Minus freaking 7, but sunny - gotta look at the positives. Looks like its going to be positively scorching by the end of the week.
As someone once said, there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad choice of clothing. So I was suitably attired for my first training day.
There weren't many out and about this morning, but I got to see bits of Guildford I had never seen on foot before.
The River Wey had steam coming off it, I'm sure there is some scientific explanation of that relating to the temperature etc.
This was an amazing sight, seeing the University of Surrey stag in the snow.
My distance is just a guesstimation, so I think I need to get some kind of monitor to record my distance and improve on times.

Background
I have agreed to be part of a team in the 2012 Pink Ribbonwalk to raise money for breast cancer. Our team is doing the 20 mile walk from Twickenham in Greater London. I agreed without realising how long 20 miles actually is.... 32 kms - eek!
The last time I did an organised event like this was the City to Surf in 2005, a 14km run. I managed that in 2hrs and 5 seconds. It was a bright winter's day in Sydney - we thought it was cold, that seems hysterical considering my first training day tomorrow is going to be -7.
As soon as I get the Just Giving details I will add it here.
